This Present Glory, Part II

Thursday, July 10, 2003

Beloved, I present "This Present Glory, Part II" to you for your pondering only if you read it in its entirety. The Word of God and the anointing of the Holy Ghost teaching is something to which one should give attention for such a time as this.

Love & Blessings,

Joan Ann

Colossians 2:15 “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The devil is already defeated, whether you believe it or not. I mean he is. I know that comes as a severe blow to several people here this morning. Maybe we should just bow our heads in a few moments of silence at the loss of your dear beloved. You know what the thing is – the devil’s been defeated, but most believers haven’t.

Somebody said, “Can a Christian have a demon?” Listen, can a demon have a Christian? Sometimes I want to walk up to some of the Christians and say, “Come out of this demon!” But what about the forces of darkness over areas and territories? Aren’t we going to come into conflict with them? Listen, the sinners are having conflict with those things, but I mean, we walk. We’re immune from those things, you see, because we’ve been taken out of the darkness of this world and brought over into the glory of God. Now, you can’t stop the birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from making a nest in your hair. Sure, there are demon spirits and territorial spirits. At that, I’ve found, I’ve bumped into many territorial spirits. I found who them stinking territorial spirits were – preachers! “Well, you’re not coming to my city, bless God. You’re not coming to this country; I’m the chief apostle of this nation, till I wave my scepter of righteousness at you, boy.” The greatest opposition we’ve ever had is not from the world. It’s from the church. Man, give me a break.

We were just in the city of El Paso. The newspapers both times -- beautiful write-ups about the move of God. Channel 7 was there (ABC News) about a six-minute interview they showed on television. The interviewer says to me, “Now is this joy like when, you know, I had a time when we really enjoyed ourselves and later on I’d turn to my friends and tell them about it, maybe two weeks later,” he said, “we’d get that same joy all over again. Is that what it’s like?” I said, “I think you kind of summed it up in a nutshell.” Yeah. The world knows more about it. And we’ve got these preachers that, “Well, bless God, we’re not going to have that joy here, thank you. People getting in the flesh here. My God, carrying people out of a church service. Where have you ever heard? People rolling on the ground, acting crazy in a church meeting. Watch out for the evil deception that’s come upon the church. And the problem with this is the people are getting happy and they don’t even know they’re deceived.”

So many people find their identification with the children of Israel, a rebellious bunch of people. “How are you today?” “I’m wandering in the wilderness.” “How are things going?” “We’ve gone around the mountain one more time.” If you identify with the children of Israel, the children of Israel, first of all, are you going to identify with them in Egypt, or in the wilderness, or in the Promised Land? I mean there’s three points of identification with those people. Well, we can’t identify with them in Egypt because that was a life of self and sin. Coming out of Egypt is the New Birth. But is God’s plan for the people of God that wants to come out of the life of Egypt that they wander for forty years in the wilderness? No! God’s plan is not that people wander for forty years in a wilderness-type situation. They wandered because of their disobedience. Everybody thinks that the Promised Land is Heaven. “It’s going to be wonderful when we cross over Jordan to Canaan’s fair and happy land where my possessions lie. When we all get to the Promised Land.” The problem is the Promised Land still has got giants, and so Heaven can’t be the Promised Land because Heaven doesn’t have any giants. The giants are down here on the earth. I will put it to you this way: that the wilderness is a place for disobedient people, and that every time you’ve made that excursion out into the wilderness (and how many have ever been out in the wilderness at one time in your life?). I know what it’s like to be out in the wilderness, but it was a place of disobedience. God’s plan was for them to go directly to the Promised Land. Do not pass. Begin. Do not collect $200. Amen? Don’t go the way of the wilderness. Go directly to the Promised Land. They could have taken several days to do it, but they didn’t because of disobedience. Only two people went in – Joshua and Caleb – of the old group.

Imagine being Joshua’s children, asking your dad, “Dad, what are we doing in this God-forsaken place?” “Well, son, come over here and we’re just gonna talk about this. We’re waiting for some of these people to die. See, we could have gone in, but they didn’t want to take the land, and they said it was a land overflowing with milk and honey, but they said there were giants in the land.” If I was Joshua’s son, I would have walked by some of the tents and said, “Drop dead! You are the problem. You’re holding us up. We could have been there long time ago.”

I put it to you this morning that the earth is the Promised Land. Are you listening to me? And there are cities to take, and there are giants, but our God has given us the victory. And every place on which the sole of our foot shall tread is given unto us!

The Bible talks about rightly dividing the word of truth. Some people have got a little bit of the Old Covenant and a little bit of the New Covenant and mixed together, got their own covenant, and they don’t even know where they’re going half the time. If you listen to the Sunday morning services, you’d be so confused, you wouldn’t know which side was up. One day God’s even having a problem, you know what I’m saying? “Folks, we really need to pray. I spoke to God this morning and things weren’t too well in Heaven. Jesus got pneumonia, a third of the angels got the Hong Kong flu, and we just had to hock one of the pearly gates cause we’ve got to make a payment on the Throne Room tomorrow, and my arthritis is killing me. And I’ve been suffering from depression lately.” And yet really it’s just a case of the eyes being opened so that they can see all that Heaven has. It’s like a little boy and a dark room, and he’s afraid to go into the dark room because there’s somebody hung up their nightgown or something and it looks like somebody standing there, and he’s afraid. “There’s somebody in the room. There’s somebody in the room.” “There’s nobody in the room. Go in there.” “Yes, there’s somebody in the room.” “No, there’s nobody.” “Yes, there’s somebody in the room.” As long as he believes there’s somebody in the room, you won’t get him to go in there and he’s not going to be happy about going in there. But when you walk in there and switch on the light, and he looks and says, “Oh, it’s only a nightgown”, he can go and lie down and sleep and there’s no more fear. Fear is gone now because suddenly the light comes on and he can see. And if people would just have their eyes opened that they can see all that Heaven has! Your whole life would change. Everything about you will change. You won’t base what you believe on a Christian writer’s novel. You base what you believe upon the Word of God. You won’t worry about the present darkness. You’ll focus in on this present glory.

It’s not a question that there are demonic forces and territorial spirits and all those things. The question is: do they have as much power as what the church has given them? Look at Ephesians, chapter 4 and verse 12.

Ephesians 4:12-18 (The Amplified Bible) “12 His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church), 13 [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him. 14 So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead. 15 Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). 16 For because of Him the whole body (the church, in all its various parts), closely joined and firmly knit together by the joints and ligaments with which it is supplied, when each part [with power adapted to its need] is working properly [in all its functions], grows to full maturity, building itself up in love.” [ - He says here - ] “17 So this I say and solemnly testify in [the name of] the Lord [as in His presence], that you must no longer live as the heathen (the Gentiles) do in their perverseness [in the folly, vanity, and emptiness of their souls and the futility] of their minds.” [ - Now you have a choice to live either way. He says, “I’m asking you, don’t live this way anymore.” - ] “18 Their moral understanding is darkened and their reasoning is beclouded.” [ - I see so many people in the body of Christ that their reasoning is beclouded. They can’t even think straight. They’re confusion personified. They’re confusion looking for a way to confuse. Hello! - ] “[They are] alienated (estranged, self-banished) from the life of God [with no share in it; this is] because of the ignorance (the want of knowledge and perception, the willful blindness) that is deep-seated in them, due to their hardness of heart [to the insensitiveness of their moral nature].”

Why did the people of Israel perish in the wilderness? Because of the hardness of their heart. Why do people today … not enter into the glory of God and into what God’s doing by the power of His Spirit in revival that is sweeping the earth today? Because of their hardness of their heart. Their eyes are blinded. Because of their hardness of their heart, they cannot see. It says here, “to the insensitiveness of their moral nature.”

Ephesians 4:19-24 (The Amplified Bible) “19 In their spiritual apathy, they have become callous and past feeling and reckless and have abandoned themselves [a prey] to unbridled sensuality, eager and greedy to indulge in every form of impurity [that their depraved desires may suggest and demand]. 20 But you did not so learn Christ! 21 Assuming that you have really heard Him and been taught by Him, as [all] Truth is in Jesus [embodied and personified in Him]. 22 Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion: 23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].” [ - Isn’t this powerful? - ] “24 And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.” Hallelujah!

I hang around some believers, and I’ll tell you what right now, it’s like hanging around a bunch of sinners. It’s no difference between them and the world. The way they’re living and the attack that they’re constantly under, they might as well be serving the devil. Hello! Now they’re serving God and getting beat up under the guise of serving God. Let me tell you, when you’re born again, and you’re washed in the Blood, and you’re brought with a price and you’ve been redeemed and you’ve been taken out of darkness and put in the kingdom of light, the enemy cannot touch you! Cannot touch you!

Go with me to Romans, chapter 8. Romans 8:31-39 (The Amplified Bible) “31 What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] 32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?] 34 Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us? 35 Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword? 36 Even as it is written, For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we are regarded and counted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, 39 Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Hallelujah! Nothing shall separate us. Oh, if we can just come into that place. You can go to bed at night at peace with the angels of God encamped about you. You can live your whole life living in the realm of the glory, praising Him in the morning time, praising Him in the noon time, praising Him in your coming in and your going out, your rising up, your lying down. Everything that you do, you’re worshipping Him, you’re focusing in on Heaven. You’re not looking at hell. Yes, yes, there are all those things out there, but that’s for the children of disobedience. But we are not under that. We are not subject to that. They have no right in our life. The Bible says, neither give place to the devil. Don’t give him place. Don’t give him authority in your life. You go walking into devil’s territory; you’re going to get attacked. Are you listening to me? I found out some of the preachers that are running around preaching these things – the reason why they preach these things is because of the way they live. Can’t run around shacking up and doing all kinds of things and getting drunk out of your gourd, snorting cocaine and standing on pulpits in the land and preaching the gospel and then tell everybody how the enemy’s coming again. Give me a break. If he’s coming that close, there’s some reason.

Now temptation will come to many people, and trials will come to everyone, but I’m telling you right now, the devil can have no authority over your life as a born-again, Blood-washed believer clothed in the righteousness of God. He has no authority. You, you are dangerous when you’re full of the Holy Ghost. Empty of the Holy Ghost, you’re just as meaner than a junkyard dog. Hello! Just as meaner than a junkyard dog. A Christian that’s out of the Holy Ghost is a mean thing. Better watch out, watch your ankles – he’ll bite you. I’d rather be locked up in a room with a rottweiler that hasn’t eaten for a month than to be let loose in a room with believers that are empty of the power of God, cause I’ve got more chance of coming out of the room with a rottweiler that hasn’t eaten for a month alive and breathing than I do coming out of a room with a bunch of believers that are devoid of the power of God. They’ll eat you for breakfast and suck the marrow out of your bones, too.

You know, I’ve asked the Lord. I’ve said, “Can people not see what happened at Calvary? Can they not see? They talk about the Cross, but they don’t see what happened at the Cross. They talk about Calvary, but they don’t see what happened at Calvary. They don’t see the power. Listen, so great was the power of God at the Resurrection that people came out of the tombs, not just Jesus. Jesus wasn’t the only one raised from the dead. Old Testament saints woke up and walked around Jerusalem. Somebody said, “You won’t believe who I bumped into at the market this morning. I bumped into Elijah, and he was talking to Abraham.” Somebody said, “Man, you’re brain-damaged; something’s wrong with you. These guys have been dead for years.” “No, I’m telling you. Remember, they told us Jesus rose, but I bumped into Elijah, and Abraham was there. I’ll tell you he was there. Elijah turned and said, ‘Hey, Abe, come look at this!’”

This is so awesome. Do you understand what even took place at the Resurrection where Old Testament saints stood up and walked out of the tombs? So great was the power of God exerted at the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. And the Bible declares, “If the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwell in you, He will quicken your mortal body.” Oh, if you only knew! If you only knew, if you only knew all that Heaven had for you! You’d won’t have to pray for revival; you’ll have it! You’ll go back to your towns and cities and you’ll light a fire that’ll shake the whole city. You won’t have to wait for some big-name evangelist or whatever – who’s who in the charismatic zoo – to come and have a crusade. You’ll be the crusade. You’ll be the fire. You’ll carry the glory. You’ll carry the anointing. You’ll shake it! If you only knew! If you only knew!

At least have enough brains, like an old pig, to go down to the water trough and drink. And every time it sticks its snout and starts to drink at the water trough, a brick falls on his head. After the third trip to the water trough, the pig begins to think: brick, water, pain! Drink, drink, pain! Brick, water, no drink. No water, pain. Brick. Now if that old pig has got enough brains, you’d think some human beings would have as much brains.

Somebody said, “Well, I’m going through some trials.” Listen, tests and trials come to everyone. The devil even came and tempted Jesus, but you know what, the Bible says he left him for a season. So there are seasons that you’ll go through. But there’ve got to be some seasons of victory. My Lord! Somebody said, “I’ve been under tests and trials.” “How long?” “Twenty-five years.” Something’s wrong, bubba! Something’s wrong, you know. When do you back up and look in the mirror and find the culprit, you know what I’m saying?. It’s like one lady came to me and she said, “Brother Rodney, would you pray for me?” I said, “What?” She said, “Would you pray for my marriage?” I said, “Sure.” She said, “It’s my fourth marriage.” I said, “No, I’m not praying.” She said, “You’re not going to pray?” I said, “No, I don’t have faith for that. Have no faith for that marriage.” “Number four”, she said. “Yes“, I said. “Sorry, Have no faith for it.” She said, “Why?” I said, “There’s one common denominator was with you in the first marriage, was with you in the second marriage, was with you in the third marriage and is gonna be with you in the fourth marriage.” She said, “What?” I said, “You!” Just remember this, you take yourself with you wherever you go.

Listen, we’ve got people here from Maui. When we went to Maui, Hawaii and ministered, I was told, “Now you be careful when you know when you get to Hawaii. The demonic spirits over the islands are so horrendous, and the demon forces and the darkness.” Where’s my Maui people? “You have to be careful of the demonic.” I went to Maui, and it’s like, Glory to God! Now if there were demons there, I didn’t know it. They didn’t have anything to do with me. They saw me coming, and they went back to the volcano. I’m telling you right now, they left. They did. And I had a wonderful time. I had a wonderful time on Maui. Somebody said, “Did you feel the oppression?” What? It was beautiful, beautiful. Palm trees, the sea, the whales – just awesome! It’s wonderful. I didn’t find demons. Now they probably were there, but they didn’t bother me, cause I was surrounded by angels and the glory of God, you know. It just depends on who you want to fly with. You want to ride on Demonic Airways, or you want to fly Glory Airlines?

Now we were playing golf with this one minister, and he believes very strongly in all the demons and what. So we had a very bad hole, so I jokingly said, “You know what?” He said, “What?” I said, “I know why this hole was bad.” He said, “Why?” I said, “This must be some ancient burial ground.” He said, “You know, I think that’s right,” and I’m laughing. Meanwhile I thought, “Don’t blame demons on your bad swing.” See, cause that’s why I’m trying to tell you, you see, Christians will go through life blaming everything on these so-called forces that are out there…. They want to blame it on the devil…. Somebody said, “The devil attacked us this morning. We drove the car into a lamppost.” No, you didn’t look where you were driving. It had nothing to do with the devil. Go for driving lessons! ….

Now you see, if people would just wake up and take the responsibility for themselves, and you know -- come on. It’s fine to blame the devil, but after ten years it gets a little thin.

Now let me tell you the battle that you will have. The battle that you will have is here – in the mind, and in your flesh. Those are the things that you are fighting against. And I’m telling you, some people – we spend a minute with them and we visit with their minds, and we’re so happy that we visit with their minds, cause we only spend a minute there. They have to live there. That would be a nightmare. I spend time talking to some people and think, “My God, I thank God I can just visit here for a minute.” Imagine if I had to live in that head! That must be the worst nightmare, waking up in their head in the morning. And they’ll take themselves with them. If you sent them to Hawaii, they would ruin it. People don’t like to hear this, cause they’d rather sit and blame the devil. “Let’s have another binding.” The devil’s been bound so many times they couldn’t bind him anymore, so they started loosing him. I mean, they don’t even know. “We bind you. We take authority over you.” When do you bind him, and when do you take authority over him? Or when do you walk in the authority that’s already been taken? I mean, come on. Besides that, you can’t bind anything that hasn’t been bound already. Cause if Jesus didn’t do it, who do you think you are? But if He did it, then can’t I walk in what He did? Can I not come in by faith into what He did?

“Yes, amen. Hallelujah! I know that, Brother Rodney, but.” Now sheep follow; goats butt. Stop butting. Say, “Amaaa.”

Love & Blessings,

Joan Ann
